German Shepherd rescue facilities are overflowing. Even though these rescues
find new homes for hundreds of dogs each year, they are always short of room for
dogs in need. Many of the dogs they save must be placed in foster homes or
boarding facilities (at a great cost) until they have the space. Some of
the rescued dogs need time to "heal" from physical abuse, medical
treatment, or the emotional trauma of their previous life. Some are
extremely frightened and confused by being homeless, and need a place to feel
secure while they adjust.
Our vision for our "Home Sweet Home" project is to provide a
multiple acre facility for the temporary care and boarding of these special
needs dogs. Our "Home" will be cage free, and provide a loving
environment with the rehabilitation and nurturing they need to adjust to a new
life. We see this "Home" as a place with warm beds, green grass,
room to run, healthy food, and loving caretakers. It will be a place where
these special dogs can become socialized with other dogs and people, and learn behavior
that will allow them to feel secure and adjust to a new home when they are
adopted.
Many of these poor babies have never known a warm bed, or had any attention
from their previous humans. Some have been abused, neglected or just left
in the backyard alone. Some have never had the chance to be the loyal,
loving companions they are by nature. They deserve a chance to heal their
physical and emotional wounds. Please help us give them that chance.
